Skin ageing is a natural process caused by intrinsic (chronological) and extrinsic (environmental) ageing. These factors contribute to the visible signs of skin ageing, such as a loss of skin firmness and laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and hyperpigmentation, irregular skin tone and texture, large pores, dry skin and a loss of facial volume.

Intrinsic ageing is determined by internal factors and is programmed by our genes. At Kate Kerr London, our aim is to support this natural process by building up your skin’s health and strength. Extrinsic ageing, also known as photo-ageing, is caused by external factors such as sunlight, pollution, nutritional intake, smoking, stress and lack of sleep. That’s why our lifestyle choices have an important role to play too.

The natural ageing process causes the surface layers of the skin, known as the epidermis, to thin and the number of melanocytes – the pigment producing cells – to decrease. In sun-exposed areas, the remaining melanocytes increase in size. This leads to the skin appearing thinner and paler, with large, pigmented areas known as age spots, lentigos or liver spots. The production of oil slows down causing dryness and the blood vessels become more fragile, increasing the incidence of broken capillaries and redness.

You might notice a loss of fat under the skin in areas such as the cheeks, temples, chin, nose and eyes. Collagen and elastin are the fibres that give our skin its structure and the breakdown of these is what leads to fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of elasticity.

The 15 steps of the 3D Skin Renovation treatment are administered in three phases:

Phase 1: Prepare

Cleanse and physical exfoliation followed by a bespoke chemical peel and necessary extractions.

Phase 2: Repair & Stimulate

Brightening sheet mask

This intense mask deeply infuses antioxidants into the skin, starting the repair process by brightening and lightening your complexion, whilst leaving the skin feeling more taut.

Targeted eye and lip treatments

Because the skin of the eye and lip areas are different to that of the face, the chosen combination of products and techniques helps to gently exfoliate, nourish, and stimulate the skin for smoother, brighter, well-rested eyes and plump, supple lips.

Mesotherapy

This advanced treatment uses microneedling to boost the absorption of powerful vitamin compounds and plumping hyaluronic acid into the deepest layers of the skin, promoting increased circulation and nutrient absorption, smoother texture and a healthy glow.

Collagen induction

A number of collagen-inducing techniques are implemented to stimulate the production of collagen, increase elasticity and resilience and help counteract the constant breakdown of this all-important structural necessity.

Radio frequency treatment

Radio frequency waves are used to firm and tighten the skin giving you both instant results, as well as long-term effects. Defining the jawline, opening the eye area and restoring your cheekbones leads to a rested and more cheerful appearance.

Red LED treatment

Red LED light penetrates the skin cells to enhance cellular function, thus helping to promote an optimal skin ecosystem function. It stimulates collagen production, inhibits the enzyme that breaks down collagen and calms inflammation.

Phase 3: Protect

A selection of potent antioxidants followed by high SPF sun protection are applied to the face, eyes and lips to speed up recovery and provide further repair and protection.

The 3D Skin Renovation treatment is thorough and stimulating, but less invasive than more intense skin rejuvenation treatments or surgical procedures. It therefore requires minimal downtime. Typically, skin is slightly pink post-treatment and light shedding can be experienced for two to three days afterwards. Mineral makeup can be worn instantly, but we recommend waiting at least 12 hours before applying conventional makeup.
